  Freelance Information

  The "Freelance Information" component contains information about the global freelance recruiting process and some general information about the freelancer such as the bank connection etc. These fields are readable by the freelancer but can't be modified.

  The Skill Component

  The freelance "Skills Component" defines several skill types that consist of a number of skills.

  The example underneath shows an example configuration of a real-world case with several Skill Types (Source Language, Target Language.) and several Skills per Skill Type (such as English or "Trados 3.0 Freelance"). Each Skill can be valuated as "high", "medium" and "low".

  Confirmed and Unconfirmed Skills

  You may already have noted the "ticks" ( ) behind some of the skills in the figure above. These ticks indicate that a "claimed" skill has been "confirmed". The idea behind "claimed" and "confirmed" skills is a separation of work between a freelancer and the "Freelance Manager" at your company: The freelancer can edit his skills himself and add new ones. However, only members of your company (the "Freelance Managers") can "confirm" a skill. The following screen shows an example:

  Staffing a project

  Having installed the]po[ Freelance Module the "Add Member" dialog contains a third "Freelance" option in the lower part. This option lists all freelancers that comply with the source and target language of your project.

  Creating a Purchase Order

  Choosing "Create Purchase Order" from one of the "Finance" you will start a wizard that helps you generating Purchase Orders for the freelancers . The wizard joins information from several sources and takes specific assumptions to generate a defaults order which later can be edited. The from the system automatically suggested "Units" and "Rate"values can be adjusted in a second step.

  Administration of Freelance Skills

  Freelance skills can be customized using the "categories" maintenance page as explained in detail in the PO-Configuration-Guide.

  Timesheet

  T1: Standard Timesheet Report

  This report lists hours tracked from project members, ordered by companies (clients) and projects.

  T2: Timesheet Productivity Report

  The report lists for each project all hours tracked by a ]po[ user. In addition details about the users compensation are shown.

  Finance

  F1: Finance Monthly Summary

  The report lists all clients financial documents created in a given period.

  F2: Finance Quotes & PO's

  The purpose of this report is to show how much money has been earned / spend by listing all financial documents with the effective date between Start Date and End Date.

  The report lists all financial documents with an effective date in the period, grouped by their projects.

  F3: Income Statement

  This report provides a basic income statement to be used for quarterly financial reporting. All financial items are considerd.

  F4: Financial documents and their projects

  The purpose of this report is to show how much money has been earned / spend by listing all financial documents with the effective date between Start Date and End Date.

  The report lists all financial documents with an effective date in the period, grouped by their projects. Effective date is due date - payment days of the document, representing the date when the inflow/outflow of the money is registered for accounting purposes.

  F5: Projects and their financial documents

  The purpose of this report is to determine the profitability of the projects ending in a given time frame by showing the relationship between quotes and purchase orders (an approximation of the gross margin).

  The report lists all projects that have started in the period between Start Date and End Date and lists their financial documents. This selection is meant to provide a reasonable approximation for 'revenues in this period' if there are many small projects, as it is the case in many agencies.

  The report shows all financial documents for the selected projects, even if their creation and due dates are outside of the period between Start Date and End Date.

  F6: Payment Balance

  The purpose of this report is to show the actual payments that have entered and left the company in the give time period. The report list all payments in the given period and identifies the related financial documents and projects.

  F7: Financial Cube

  This Pivot Table ('cube') is a kind of report that shows Invoice, Quote or Delivery Note amounts according to a a number of variables that you can specify. This cube effectively replaces a dozen of specific reports and allows you to 'drill down' into results.

  F8: Expenses

  This report shows all expenses in the system in a given period, grouped by project.

  Translation Management

  T1: Projects and Translation Tasks

  Shows translation tasks groupd by project and customer. The report shows projects only if the project's end date is greater or equal start date and less then end date.

  T2: Project Managers and their Productivity:

  The purpose of this report is to check performance of project managers in terms of the revenues of the projects that they have managed in the given timeframe. The report lists all financial documents with an effective date in the period, grouped by their projects and project managers.

  Other

  O1: Users and Contacts:

  This report shows all users in the system, together with their state and their contact details.
